While Toriko came to a close in Japan this weekend after one hundred and forty-seven episodes, fans of the show are now getting a bit more access to it. While Crunchyroll had been simulcasting the series for a bit with an expanded relationship with Toei Animation, they’ve had a gap as a lot of the earlier episodes weren’t available for fans who wanted to start from the beginning. That’s now been updated as episodes two through sixty two have been added and early next week will see the remainder of that gap filled in. The addition of these episodes does come with two exceptions as the first episode and episode fifty-one are not included due to them being a crossover with One Piece, something that fell outside of the normal TV number in some ways and are treated more as specials.
FUNimation has been bringing the series to DVD and Hulu as well as their own site for some time as well, though the fourth installment of the series on DVD was released back in May 2013 with no further announcements since then as that covered the first fifty episodes.
Plot concept: In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, individuals known as Bishoku-ya, specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Our protagonist, Toriko, possesses incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom in order to fulfill his dream to capture the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. He is currently accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko’s ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and find rare ingredients.
