With FUNimation having put a discount on the import versions they were carrying for the first two installments of Ghost in the Shell: Arise recently, it’s not a surprise to get word from the company that there’s progress with the localized version. According to FUNimation, recording will begin shortly for the English dub version of the latest installment in the Ghost in the Shell franchise. Similar to what was done with the Japanese release, an entirely new cast will be brought in to work on this project since it deals with younger characters. FUNimation is intending to finalize the cast list in the next few weeks with the full announcement to come later, presumably closer to one of the upcoming conventions where they can have some, if not all, of the main cast in attendance.
Ghost in the Shell: ARISE episodes 1 & 2, which both run 50 minutes each, will be combined into a single release due out in 2014.
For fans looking to get in on the action sooner, FUNimation will be hosting one-night theatrical screenings for Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Borders 1 & 2 (Japanese audio w/ English subtitles) in select cities on May 29th.
