Gundam Wing
According to Animate, it looks like the second installment of the Gundam Wing Blu-ray box set in Japan will come with an interesting new extra. A new picture drama is being included that will bring to life, in picture-drama form of course, the sequel novel series Frozen Teardrop. The picture drama is being written by the author of the novels, Katsuyuki Sumizawa, and will be directed by Yasushi Aoki. It also appears that they are getting the cast back together for this in Japan. The novels began serialization in 2010 and have six volumes released so far from its run in Gundam Ace magazine. The story in the novel takes place approximately 22 years after the events of the Gundam Wing television series and Endless Waltz OVA and movie in the new “Mars Century” or “M.C.” era.
The release plans for the series as a whole have it coming out in two box sets, the first of which is due on November 22nd, 2013 and the second due out on January 29th, 2014. Both sets will retail for 29,400 yen, though there are plenty of discounts already popping up online.
Plot concept: Thousands of People live on giant orbiting space colonies called “Sides.” However, the Earth Government, which rules the colonies, is unjust and cruel. A group of revolutionaries builds five robotic Gundams and plans to send them to Earth to begin their fight for independence. Piloted by five young men, their hopes and dreams of freedom of the colonists with them as they descend to Earth to begin Operation Meteor!
