While nothing is in stone at this point or even on paper, one of the main backers of Majestic Prince, which has a two season run that’s coming to a conclusion in a few weeks, is contemplating the idea of a seconds series in the future. Fields Corporation, a financial company in Japan, indicated in its latest filings that it’s looking for ways to make more out of the property that they’ve invested in by talking about DVDs, developing domestic applications for computers and/or smart phones, producing goods, and making tie-in pachinko/pachinko-slot machines. It’s also talking about the idea that it may be able to wrangle a second series out of it, but it’s more of just a potential than anything else and may not come to fruition. The series, which has been licensed domestically by Sentai Filmworks and has received a simulcast run on Crunchyroll, is based off of the manga of the same name but has had a fairly lackluster reception by audiences both in Japan and abroad.
Plot concept: Earth year 2110. Having expanded into space and secured many asteroids abundant in natural resources, it seemed mankind’s prosperous future was assured. However, Earth is now being invaded by Urgal, a mysterious galactic empire from Jupiter. Just as mankind is facing certain destruction, the secret military agency MJP undertakes a gene manipulation project to create humans who can adapt to life in space. The result is Team Rabbits, a group of children who are given combat devices called “Ash” and sent to the front line as shields for the Global Defense Force (GDF).
