What They Say:
Amami, the owner of the Rainy Color café, assigned Nozomu Tokura as the manager of the new shop in Hawaii. Even though life of Nozomu is increasingly hectic toward the opening, he and his new fellows in Hawaii keep positive and make their efforts trying to get everything down. Can they make it by the date of opening?

While I had liked the general idea of the series, the first two seasons of Rainy Cocoa, now called Ame-Con!!, they were definitely a struggle because of the short running time. The series did not go over well here and Funimation didn’t go after the third season, which Crunchyroll will be streaming but doesn’t interest me in checking it out. With this new season, the show shifts gears as we head to Hawaii with a new show that Amami has set up and put Nozomu in charge of. Talk about a dream assignment! With a thirty-second opening theme, the episode is two minutes long past that and we get to see how Nozomu is handling the Hawaii life and enjoying it all quite a lot. We do get a bit of time with everyone back at the main shop with some of them being envious, but the focus on Nozomu is nicely done s he has to figure out how to draw in more customers as there’s a lot of competition in the area. That means trying to find a good and creative hook, which becomes a Shiba Inu dog being brought to the place in order to play up its Japanese management side a bit.
In Summary:
When you have to rely on animals to make your show work you may be in a bit of trouble, at least in the context of this kind of show. The opening episode does a nice job of connecting the old and the new but it leaves me hopeful that they won’t lean on the old crew too much and move forward more with new things. What we do get here is nicely animated with some good designs and the appeal of what Hawaii is like as a significant draw. I’m cautiously optimistic based on past seasons and the fact that I don’t think they’ll have learned to manage the running time any better now than before.
